Artist Statement
The reason I create art is because I don’t like to have all my thoughts and feelings jumping around in my mind, I like to capture them onto something more larger and share them with the world. My art doesn’t just represent my thoughts and feelings, but me as a whole. It represents my personality and emotions as well. I am constantly being inspired by the world around me, especially things that make me happy and help me appreciate life as a whole. Senior year has helped me realize who my true friends are, and they are the ones who inspire me to create the art I can to the best of my ability. My ideas become much easier for me to create into art.
In my art I see a lot of detail in even the smallest of details from original photos. When I create art I typically like to start off with an original image I have taken and alter that image in the best way. Typically, I will do so using Adobe Photoshop and using techniques such as contour line drawing and double exposure. This program is by far my favorite program to use, not only am I most familiar with it, but almost every type of art I want to create I can do so using Photoshop. I have become more aware of the program in my AP Digital Media arts class and almost every art I have created this year has started in Photoshop.
Also those who have viewed my art also explain that there is a lot of detail. My friends and family have told me that my art looks like an entirely new image. I try to make sure my art is very detailed and precise so the viewer is able to make out what the piece is and what I am trying to say about myself in my piece. The more expressive I am in my art, the more detail is involved. Many of my pieces have inspired me to create more. For example, my first contour line drawing piece of a lamppost outside of my house inspired the ideas for my concentration as a whole.
